A high quality wind monitoring system that is easy to install for immediate accurate wind measurement. Wi-Fi connectivity enables data to be viewed over the internet and/or locally on PC.
This systems measures wind speed and direction using the Gill WindSonic Option 1 ultrasonic sensor. The WindSonic sensor measures wind speed and direction in one unit, with no moving parts it requires virtually no maintenance and unlike traditional cup and vane sensors does not have bearings that require servicing or replacement. The Gill WindSonic sensor has an incredibly low start up speed with complete 0 to 360° operation with no dead band. The WindSonic ultrasonic sensor requires no calibration and is drop tested from 1m height and comes with a 2 year warranty as standard.
The WindSonic Option 1 sensor used in this system has an RS232 output and has a cable distance of 15m. If cabling distances are longer than this we can quote as required.
The sensor is linked with the RS232 cable to our SpaceLogger.W8.Wireless data logger. The SpaceLogger.W8.Wireless data logger date and time stamps the data storing it locally on the SD card from which it can be transmitted over the local Wi-Fi network onto our Weather-File website or to PC. This gives the flexibility of being able to view the data locally on PC and/or remotely through the Weather-File website. If no local Wi-Fi network is available the data can be transferred manually to PC using the SD card.
The Weather File website displays the data onto a compass rose and wind speed display that is updated in real time every 5 seconds.
Long term data, including 10 minute averaged data, is stored on the SD card in a .CSV file that can be easily downloaded into Excel for later analysis and reporting.
The system comes complete with a 0.9m anodised aluminium mounting mast and mains plug power supply. 5V UK or World plug options are available.
