View live wind data from our wind systems at Lymington, Hurst Castle, Highcliffe and Portland Harbour (The 2012 Olympic sailing venue)
The UK experienced what has been described as 'the worst storm of the winter' on Monday 10th March. Storm Johanna originated over northeast USA, crossed northeast Canada and the Atlantic to approach the UK over the weekend.
The high winds and heavy rain caused much damage and brought disruption to southern England and Wales during the Monday.
R-P-R's wind system at Hurst Castle recorded wind speeds in excess of 70 knots (Force 12) in the gusts.
The graph below was generated using our WindLog spreadsheet from wind data recorded from the WindSonic sensor at Hurst Castle. The wind speed and direction data is collected every second by one of our SpaceLogger-RSTM WindLoggers connected by a radio link to the wind sensor. The data is stored on an MMC mobile memory card.
The Hurst Castle anemometer is also connected directly to the internet where current live data can be viewed at www.weather-file.com/hurst.
